Embarrassing program, 3 degrees from porn

If you live in the UK or are familiar with its everyday, chances are you have watched "Embarrasing bodies", aired from Channel 4.

If you don't, that's fine. I'll introduce you to it.

The program reportedly aims to make people aware of the fact that some apparently embarrassing illnesses -impressive at first sight- are, actually, nothing to be embarrassed about. On the contrary, these are human conditions and could happen to anyone. Showing these illnesses on TV would then make people aware of them, hence favouring social sensibility.

Yeah, right.

Please raise their hand anyone who has seen the show and wasn't caught by the gruesomeness behind each oh-no-I-can't-believe-they're-going-to-show-it-oh-no-noooo-oh-dear-no!-poor-soul! closeup.

Thank you. You can lower them now.

Don't get me wrong. These people are obviously having a hard time exposing themselves in TV, not to mention having some diseases that could be challenging and hard to live with.

Also, it remains clear that a gross looking fungus, being born with extremely large labia or teeny tiny penis is something that could happen to anyone. Next week, I, you, could be growing a disgusting rash. I think we all humans know that. And if you Channel 4 people wanted to get the message across, a simple 30 sec public service announcement would have done.

What is not normal is the morbid exploitation of the diseases of these people and taking advantage of the limitations of UK's embarrasing NHS to get share.

Channel 4 is not very much of my liking, but this is too much. And this has been going on for a long time. And I can't hear the complaints.

And Channel 4 doesn't stop there. No, sir. They have a subsite I won't link to here because I am not interested in promotion. If you wish to visit it, be it for twisted, critical or curiosity reasons, google it.

This subsite hosts galleries under the same premise of "we are a wealth of colours and shapes" and similar Benetton-like hypocritical crap. You have vagina galleries, penises galleries, boobs galleries and others. And because we are all equal and different at the same time and you will help us empower this beautiful message, you are invited to post your photo.

Isn't it just heartening?

Most photos are courtesy of another website which link is in the galleries themselves. A couple of links away, you are invited to enter your credit card details if you want to enjoy the hottest girls etc whatever.

Yes. The subsite of a program so genuinely concerned about tolerance etc is just three clicks away from paid porn. Those clicks are not ads. I can assure you that.

Hypocrisy makes me sick.
